Lola and Lucy Henderson-Thomas

September 2005

Juliet went back to work today; it's my first day home alone with Lucy. Of course, today is the first day that Lucy didn't sleep the entire day away, and she'd rather be held than anything else. When I tried to crawl back into bed while she was napping, she'd stir and cry and I haven't had a chance to take a nap yet.

In addition, our dog Rooben got sick twice today on the kitchen floor and seems to have some sort of bug. So between picking up dog barf and tiredly changing baby's dirty diapers, it's been a fun day. I've already done two loads of dishes. My back hurts.

When I've tried to pump, Lucy seems to know and wants to be held. So today I had to pump and hold Lucy at the same time. It's hard to heat a bottle and hold the baby at the same time, let alone pump.

This whole mom thing is one huge multi-task.

I know it sounds like I'm complaining; I'm not. Lucy is adorable and that sweetness she exudes dampens any sense of losing my patience.

She's finally asleep. Time to take a mid-afternoon nap (or should I try to grab something to eat?)! Nope, I'm wrong. She's up and crying now.

    Dag nab it.

    S

    here's the scoop:

lucy is awesome. she rarely cries; she just likes to eat and sleep. she lost the rest of her umbilical cord yesterday (ick), so she has a full-fledged belly button. oddly, she does NOT like to be swaddled. she likes full use of her arms, even as she sleeps. her full head of hair is much like her big sisters...lots of dark hair, with chestnut highlights. i can't imagine she'll be blonde like lola, but who knows!

lola is great, too, but she has been getting kinda cranky for the past couple of days. we hope it's not baby related - because she's been really great with baby.

Lucy is a sleep-aholic and can't get enough to eat in between her naps. She sounds just like her mom!

Juliet has been an outstanding wife and mother - really going all-out in terms of home (taking care of the house, the kids and her wife!).

Lola has been a star, too. She wants to help feed baby, and often gives her kisses on the head.

Stephanie has been...slothy. Recovering from her c-section just fine...

Lucy Erica Lee Henderson-Thomas arrived on Tues. Sept. 13. We need to change the webpage address to lolaandlucy!!!

Mom and Lucy are doing well. They are both still in the hospital and will spend four days there for Stephanie to recover from a caesarian section.

Lola is going to meet Lucy for the first time this afternoon! Hopefully it will provide some good big/little sister bonding time.

Lola (and her mommies) are still awaiting the arrival of Baby #2. In the meantime, Lola has been obsessing about Elmo, specifically "Elmocizing" - and making her mommy bend, stretch and excercise with her. Fun. No, really.

Lola has also been loving her new baby stroller to strut around with, and her new sunglasses. She is also getting particular about what she wants to wear every morning. We let her choose.

A few days ago, we started putting her in her toddler bed (instead of her crib) so she won't totally wig out when Baby 2 comes.

She has been in a particularly great, laughing and fun mood as of late...as well as misbehaving a bit. Juliet has instituted the "naughty corner" and Lola seems to have caught on quickly.
