She speaks! Well, sort of. This past week Lucy started babbling "Da Da" (go figure -- harrumph!) and possibly "Ba Ba."
She also rolls over now...All the books say that it's easier for infants to roll over from front to back, but both Lola and Lucy were back to front rollers.
It's kinda fun to watch Lucy do this arch that kinda looks like a backbend and then suddenly roll over. Lola loves to see Lucy roll over and hear her "talk". It makes her laugh. And if Lucy is ever sad, Lola will generally (esp. if we ask) go over to Lucy and start laughing to see if that will help Lucy. It always does. The way that Lucy looks at Lola is the sweetest, most loving thing.
Lola "helps" to drop off Lucy in the infant room at daycare. As part of her regression, Lola likes to lay in Lucy's boppy, or on her playmat, or even in her bassinet. She also demands that she sit in Lucy's excersaucer or sit in Lucy's bouncy chair. She has stolen Lucy's pacifiers and puts them in her mouth. And, if she is mad at either one of her moms, our dear sweet Lola has run over to Lucy to hit her or pull her hair in revenge. Poor Lucy.

The girls are both in daycare now, as Juliet and Stephanie are both at work fulltime. Lucy is recovering from a cold/cough; her doctor told us that the second child gets sick more often because of all the germs the older one brings home.
It's hard to send Lucy off each day, because she's still so young, but it makes it a little easier knowing she's in good hands.
Lola continues to learns lots of new words everyday. She is the boss of everyone in the house, screaming at the dogs to move out of her way and saying to Juliet, "Clean it up, Mama" when she spills something.Comments:Add a comment:

Well, Lucy's time at daycare has been short-lived. Today Juliet received a phone call from daycare. Apparently, a parent complained about Lucy's cough (which, truthfully, we are slightly concerned about) and was afraid that she was passing along some RSV or something....so Juliet had to go and pluck Lucy out of school. The two of them are going to the doctor's office tomorrow. Poor Lucy. She seems to always have a cold. : (

Today was Lucy's first official day of school -- she wasn't there the whole day because we're trying to wean her into it. But she stayed there a few hours, and apparently had a ball, smiling and giggling all day.
Lucy's teacher is Maureen, the same teacher that Lola had (and who is kind enough to babysit on occasion). The school took a picture of Lucy's first day and gave us a certificate (see photos), too. It was sooooooooo cute.
Mommy impulsively snipped some of Lucy's hair the other day -- her first haircut! Her hair is unbelievably long and was getting into her eyes...
Little Ms. Lola is good with Lucy (usually) and this morning gave her a few unsolicited kisses on the head. However, when Lola found out that Lucy was going to be joining her at school, she said "No Lucy Penny's House" which in translation means that Lola didn't want her to join her at school [Editor's note: The daycare center where the girls go is shaped like an old school house. When we drive up to the school, Lola says "Penny's house." Penny is Lola's teacher...so therefore "Penny's House" = daycare].
Lola has been particularly chatty these days. She especially likes to mimic words, and that has us slightly concerned since we mommies sometimes have potty mouths. We're trying to be careful.
Lola has been a champ with the potty training. We're following her lead. She tells us when she wants to go, and a few days ago we bought her "pull up" diapers that are supposed to somehow help with potty training. She is soooo proud of herself.
Juliet has been so great with both babies. She has become a real nurturer and care giver to the girls, and it's so sweet and heartwarming to watch.
I know we're not supposed to brag about our children, but they are so great and adorably cute...

Lucy can't speak yet, but she does whinny like a horse quite well. It's cute, in a horsey sort of way!
Lola had a big milestone today - she peepeed twice in the toilet. It was the first time she had ever done it at home!
Also, today Mama asked Lola to go and get a toy for Lucy to play with. She came back with a plastic bag... Should we worry? ;-)Comments:Add a comment:

Lola was soooo cute this evening. When Mama was feeding Lucy her last bottle, she and Lola were having a conversation about their trip to England this summer. Lola knows that Granny and Papa live in England, and that when she and Lucy visit they will fly on an airplane to Bristol and get to swim in their swim diapers. A little later on Lola and Mommy were talking and Lola started to cry because her Papa wasn't there with her. Awwww!
Lucy may possibly be on the news on Monday. She went to a Mommy and Me class at at bakery and FOX 11 News was there filming. They took several shots of Lucy, and we're hoping she won't get edited out for the segment of "things for parents to do in LA"!Comments:Add a comment:

Lola went to the dentist for the second time yesterday. She was very cooperative for Dr. Eddie and only threw a fit when we had to leave and she couldn't play video games in the waiting room!
This morning we heard blood curdling screams coming from the living room. Both Mama and Mommy sprinted to the room expecting to find some horrible catastrophe. It turns out that doggie Rooben had crossed the bounddry into the forbidden living room and had eaten Lola's piece of toast. For poor Lola is was the absolute end of the world. She spent a long time being consoled in Mama's arms and only truly calmed down when Mommy offered to bring her yogurt. Ah, if only yogurt healed all wounds!Comments:Add a comment:
