Well, it's official: Lucy is a bully.
But she's a secret bully. In front of others, she is very cute (so much so that a dad in our Hotchkiss playgroup said that if he'd have to pick another baby to have, he'd pick Lucy! And another faculty member told us that he'd love to have Lucy if we ever got sick of her :) ) and personable. Behind close doors, she terrorizes our Lola.
Besides pulling Lola's hair, she has also started biting. And though sometimes Lucy does it in "self-defense" (ie Lola wrestles her to the ground or takes away a toy from her grasp), other times it really is totally out of the blue.
Today when I was in the kitchen, I heard Lola scream in pain while both girls were hovering over a toy. Lola came to me and showed me an awful bite on her arm...it didn't break the skin, but it was close.
I told Lucy "NO" and put her in the "naughty corner" (after prying chewed-up chalk in her mouth), but Lucy doesn't really understand the concept of the naughty corner and could seem to care less that she hurt Lola. I asked her to say sorry to Lola (which she can say), but she refused to.
Lola didn't want ice (a first!), but said she wanted to watch some TV. So, I put on LADY AND THE TRAMP, and thought there'd be bliss in the household. Because Lucy can now reach the buttons on the TV, I placed her little piano play station thing to block access to them.
So I went to our home office to write Juliet an email telling her of the biting incident, when I heard Lola scream again. I ran out and expected to see Lucy pulling Lola's hair or something, but instead, I saw that Lucy had dragged her chair over to her piano play station toy, and had used her chair to get up on top of her piano so she could push the TV's buttons.
We call her "Luzilla" (as in Godzilla), but she is also known as "Lucy the Destroyer" and "The Tormenter."
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp.Comments:Add a comment:

We haven't written or done much with this site lately because we can't seem to upload photos anymore. We've been working on it and working on it, but have not had success, sadly.

Today was Lola's first academic "exam." All kids who want to enter the pre-K program at the local elementary school have to take a skills test to determine if they have any learning disabilities. If they have a disability then they automatically enter in the program. If they do well on the test then they are entered into a lottery to start the program the following September. So, Lola was given a battery of tests, all in the form of fun activites, by a wonderful test administrator and the pre-K teacher. The baseline score that a child needs to score in order to be considered developmentally on target is 111. Our Lola scored 125! Not that we want to focus on test results....BUT...we were a little proud!

Lucy's newest skill is swimming. Unfortunately she likes to do it in the bath by throwing herself under the water, scaring Mama and Mommy. We haven't taken her swimming in the pool yet, but Lola has gone twice in the past few weeks. Lola has done really well in the very very cold water of the Hotchkiss pool. She jumps into Mama's arms and likes to splash around with a kickboard.
